My Dad, John Lockney (inventor of the Lockney lines), took me by train to see Badger-Goofer game sometime in the early 60's I believe. First time ever on a train, and Badgers won. I remember Jim Bakken kicking at least one field goal. Fun to read about the trip decades before that.
I'd forgotten the misses! Just remembered the winner. Richter and Vanderkelen must have been on the team then, a year before the well remembered USC Rosebowl loss.

Great memory. In addition to a bad snap, Bakken missed 5 FG attempts before making the game winner in the 11/26/61 game .
