OMG His reasoning for avoiding the draft was because of foot spurs. If infact having spurs is the truth there's no way he would have been able to play baseball at the level he would have had to accomplish to have the stats to be the best in the state.
I should point out, however, that Trump likely developed or exacerbated his supposed heel spur(s), from playing squash regularly after he'd left NYMA.
Squash was a popular indoor sport in the 60s, especially in cold, wet, windy, coastal environments like NYC. Trump was too large, lumbering, and heavy, however, to play a game like squash safely.
Squash shoes of that era like Dunlop Volleys didn't have the modern shock-absorbing foams we take for granted today.
Rapid acceleration and deceleration, plus twisting and turning under load, on hard surfaces, wreaks havoc on the feet, ankles, knees, pelvic joints, especially amongst the overweight, which Trump has always been since early adulthood.
All facts. Too bad some people can't handle the truth and support a vulgar narcissist who can't tell the truth. GOP supporters can be proud of the athletic exploits of Eisenhower, Ford, and Bush 41, who didn't have to brag or invent false sporting accomplishments. I respect your willingness to take a stance and stand tall in the pocket against the blitz. They're clearly offside.
You were correct in first stating that you "have avoided covering political issues in Football Archaeology, partly because many use sports and sports history as a diversion." You should followed your own advice. Your responses to one of your readers was inappropriate; 1/2 of the voters have that view but the other 1/2 would say you have Trump derangement syndrome. There is enough BS out there on both sides and I am interested in your research on football but I don't read your work because of your politics; you should stick to what you know best.
My response would be inappropriate if it was incorrect. It is not. I fully intend to return to writing about football, but will continue writing about any issue I want to raise.
Seriously! I thought people could read the headline and from that decide whether or not they would like to read the article. If you look for sports as a way of diverting yourself from politics and the news of the world, that is great. I try to practice that myself.
If you don't want to read somebody pointing out facts that are demonstrably verifiable, don't open the link, don't listen to the podcast, don't watch the TV show.
With regard to the trump derangement syndrome, his words matter because he is the President of the USA. As such, we should expect a certain amount of integrity and honesty that he owes to people that voted for him and people that didn't vote for him. I feel that people who state others have TDS are flippant and naive. He represents all of us Americans. And when he lies or demonstrates undemocratic behavior tending toward autocracy, it is not only normal to call him out for it, it is noble.
Organised sport is trivial compared to politics: indeed, watching sport is a diversion and a welcome distraction from all the serious matters of life.
Blue collar Yanks voted for Trump coz they are worse off than their grandfathers, working for slave wages, unable to own their own homes, unable to afford basic sickness care.
I'm making lying about high school stats an indication of his fragile ego. He's the one who claimed he was the state's top ball player. I showed he wasn't.
Ask any old dude what he hit for in high school. See what he says. Everyone exaggerates their high school stats and you’re demonizing him for something so little. Never seen someone crying so hard over something as little as this.
What part of the insurrectionist, adulterer, 34-time felon, twice impeached, Bible-thumping non-believer, racist, rapist do you fail to understand? He has lied and cheated his entire life and, somehow, people like you think he's good for the country.
Tim, I should have replied when this came out. I agree with you 100%. It's disgusting to me that so many don't care about the facts. It hasn't gotten any better since you wrote this. So called Trump Derangement Syndrome is BS. Facts are facts, and your tidbit just added more facts to dispute his statements. And not everyone lies about their high school sports accomplishments, or lack thereof.

Good point, Wanda.

Thanks, Timothy, I know you've resisted politics but glad to read this--
He lies about everything so this comes as no surprise. Thank you for your research and for placing facts out there for the world.

Trump is a symptom of a sick society in decline.
You’re making lying about high school baseball stats sound like 1st degree murder 🤣

Things are worse than I anticipated. He is an evil fool.
