Teams
The 1918 and 1919 Rose Bowl teams were the subject of my book, Fields of Friendly Strife. They remain the only non-college teams to play in the Rose Bowl.
The West Point Cavalry Detachment (WPCD) football teams were comprised of Black enlisted men in the segregated Army. The 1929 team is the first known all-Black team to win the championship of an otherwise all-White league.
