Some of these changes I believe only exist because they made other changes.
Moving the goalposts makes a shorter field more desirable because FGs will be harder to make.
Shorter field and shorter end zone means easier to kick the ball into the stands for a point so that change.
But it’s all linked together. You make one change the others need to happen too.
Unless you’re looking to merge/absorb UFL or expand back to the US none of it makes sense. If you’re coming to the US you need to be done in September or even August or disappear from the public eye.
Coming to the US is only justification I can come up with.
And I see that as comparable to the rare free kick following a fair catch in American football. The Canadian kicking rules are superior to American football in general. Why change to something more vanilla?
Excellent article. Thanks for that! The new stadium in Toronto only has 18 yard end zones.
Thanks, so two of nine.

I could accept the change to the single with one tweak.
Also awarded a single if the ball touches in the end zone. Returner shouldn’t be able to let it hit the ground and bounce out.
I like that idea too. I simply don't understand the need to make a change at all.
The only time I see any complaints is the rate situation of just kicking the stuffing out of the ball to win at the end.
Kicking it hard at a 65 yard wide target is harder than making a FG.
