I've never used a visualizer, but back in 1972 I bought "Pro Football Review" by Sports Illustrated, a detailed statistical review of the 1971 NFL season. It contained a chart of every game of the '71 season - the charts looked similar to the Visualizer. Here is an example: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/a8tkh9w6aowwtbxkvrxqp/chart.pdf?rlkey=nw3wdmzeou4ykh66vnwy1978t&dl=0

Passes were dashed lines, runs were solid lines. I think I can dig up the 'key' with all the details, and maybe the whole book. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for the chart. I was not aware of the book and will see if I can locate a copy. I did not find it on eBay under that name.

There were different ways of denoting passes, runs, and kicks and different colored pens and pencils were used for the teams, but the newspapers only printed in black back then, so the symbols were more complex.

I suspect you'll have a tough time finding that book - it was only published that one year, and it was fairly cheap quality (newsprint-type paper). Luckily I found my scan of the whole book: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/ze31mndm4ve36qhqg6fy5/h?rlkey=dbd6ubo05gx550fggkil8i8wh&dl=0. Enjoy!
