I remember in the early to mid 60’s Packers playing Rams and 49ers last two weeks of the season on the west coast on Saturdays and staying the week between games. I could be wrong it was a long time ago.

That's a fine memory you have there. I did some digging. The Packers played the Rams in LA on 12/7/63 and the 49ers in SF on 12/14/63. They stayed in Palo Alto during the week in between.

Really interesting! This may be taken to the next level if the NFL expands outside the country. Some of the same phenomena for modern times.

From a fan perspective it is already there. How they handle the travel and scheduling with EU-based teams will be interesting. It's not as big a deal to cross the water for a one-off, but regular-season games split between Europe and North America changes things. Maybe the EU teams play two weekends in a row on our side of the water.

It will be interesting to see how the logistics play out practically and substantively in performance. Personally, I’m not interested in seeing expansion outside the country.

And I think our decline in standing in EU eyes, makes it less likely to succeed anytime soon. I could be wrong, but I think it remains the modern-day barnstorming tour.
